The Tyrolean Hound descends from the ancient Celtic hounds. Pure breeding from the old Bracke hounds began in Tyrol around 1860 and in 1896 a standard was drawn up. The Tyrolean Hound is an excellent hunting dog for the woods and mountains, used to hunt hare and fox and for tracking all sorts of wounded game.

The Gascon Saintongeois (FCI No.21) is a breed of dog of the scenthound type, recognised in two sizes, Grand (large) and Petite (smaller than the Grand, but not a small dog.) Originating in France, the breed is used for hunting in packs and descends from the old Hound of Saintonge type of large hunting dog.

Here is an interesting dog. Perhaps a visitor from France shall arrive with one for hunting and can run the grounds with me.

I just got to lick some plates that had goat’s milk cheese and fresh egg yolks on them. That was quite a delight. But my very favorite treat is a rare lamb chop from my Lord.
